J.M. 2002 - Martinique, neat: It has notes of burnt wood and grass, that gives it a little bit of a tang. It is a bit coarse, like the other rum I tried today (Compagnie), but has a lot more character, which makes it the more enjoyable to drink of the two.

J Bally 12y.o., Martinique - Somehow I've missed this on my list so far, but I can easily understand why: it's got a bit of a shoe polish aroma and flavour profile. I regret not going for the 3y.o., because it wasn't as harsh smelling, but glad I didn't go for the 7y.o., because it was stronger.
