2020 has a bad reputation because of the global pandemic, but I actually had a pretty successful year. I also drank some pretty good rums.

23rd St Distillery Signature Rum - South Australia. A shop purchase (from the bottle shop across the road from my apartment block), it has a funky label created by Adelaide artist Joshua Searson. Aroma: vanilla, ginger, and buterscotch. Palate: a touch of orange marmalade, ginger and cane. Very nicely put together.

Riverbourne Distillery Rich Dark Sipping Rum. This Aussie rum was a gift from a colleague. The Distillery is only about an hour's drive from my place, so I should go visit sometime. From what I can see on their website, they no longer stock this, which is a shame. The nose presents you with raisins and burnt sugar. The palate is what you would expect of an Agricole-style rum (or rhum, for the traditionalists) - it comes through with grassy and earthy notes, and ends with a bang. This isn't a rum for everyone, but for those of you who enjoy Agricole: if you can find it, give it a whirl!
